Style Is on Point When This Acupuncturist Pins the Peninsula’s Best

Doctor’s Order: R&R, high design, dinner and a show.
Like a Local

Stephanie Faddis is a Doctor of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and the founder of Ouchie in Monterey. Her unique practice (in an office that can only be described as aesthetic) includes her signature treatment, EMPOWER, designed to elicit meaningful change and deep restoration for her patients. Grounded by acupuncture, but with a distinctly spa-like feel, it incorporates custom playlists, tuning fork chakra clearing, massage, and facial reflexology for a one-of-a-kind healing experience you won’t find anywhere else.

AM

Breakfast at Stationæry where I enjoy a matcha latte and chilaquiles. It’s almost guaranteed that I see some familiar faces, and it’s not unusual for us to push our tables together.

11A

A Facial Rejuvenation treatment from Dr. Frederica, my colleague at Ouchie, leaves my skin supple and supported, and I get to enjoy a cup of Happy Tea afterwards.

When in Monterey, a stop by Lilify to replenish my Earth Milk Moon Cacao Elixir and BY TIDE herbal scrub is always accompanied by a lovely chat with Hanni, the owner. She has the best bags for market hauls, plus scarves to tie onto the baskets.

1:30P

This is always a good time to visit Carissa Duncan at Hunt in Carmel Valley. Her Schnauzer, Ginger, gives me little love nibbles as I soak in the beautiful designs that only Carissa can provide.

2:30P

If a day of relaxation is in order, I love a massage at Refuge, followed by cold plunges and hot tub soaks. Nothing will make you feel more alive.

Evening

4:30P

A walk to Carmel Beach. I like to avoid Ocean Avenue and walk through the neighborhoods instead to get to the Fourth Street beach access. This way you avoid heavy car traffic, and you get to enjoy the dunes as you approach and watch the sun slowly beginning its descent over the turquoise water.*

*Editor’s Note: Check here for daily sunset times.

5:30P

Arrive at Chez Noir just as they have opened and sit at the bar. The oysters and seasonal dishes never disappoint!

8P

Catch a show at Carmel’s historic Sunset Center. It’s the perfect way to end a lovely day exploring the Peninsula.
